The Paragould Police Department currently has 46 sworn police officers and 10 civilians, for a total of 56 employees protecting and serving "The Friendly City" of Paragould. The current officer employee breakdown is: one D.A.R.E. officer, one school resource officer, two traffic enforcement officers, six criminal investigators, including two members of a specialized Street Crimes Unit, 32 patrol officers, and four administrative officers including the Chief of Police.
Our civilian employees include six dispatchers, two data entry clerks, one criminal investigations secretary/coordinator, and one code enforcement officer. The Paragould PD Dispatch Center is the E-911 Primary Public Safety Answering Point (P.S.A.P.) for all of Greene County, Arkansas and actively encourages all residents to create and maintain a Smart 911 profile to assist all Greene County Emergency Services in providing the best possible protection and assistance.
The Paragould Police Department has 17 patrol units with laptop computers that are linked to the Arkansas Crime and Information Center database and the local Computer Aided Dispatch and Reporting system utilized by the Police Department.
In 2002, statistics were gathered and declared in 2003 that Paragould was recorded as the safest city in Arkansas with a population of 20,000 plus. The crime rate was 15 crimes per 1,000. The city that came in 2nd place had a rate of 42 crimes per 1,000.
2012 statistics showed that we answered 15,549 calls for assistance and made 2,945 misdemeanor arrests. We opened 526 felony cases and processed 283 felony arrests. The PD also investigated 1,347 accidents.
